On Wednesday night, Gina invited me over for a little spiritual gathering with Eric, Patricia, and her friend Paul. Paul is a minister, and this was the first time I had the opportunity to meet him. It was such an awesome time! God’s mighty presence was there from the moment I walked in, and the anointing that Paul has from God is just a blessing to be around! He has a strong gift of prophecy, and we got to see it in action on an individual basis. I love when God uses His servants to deliver His will!
At the end of the meeting, he asked us to do an assignment for next Wednesday. The assignment is to list five ways that I can glorify God.
Number One on My List:
Demonstrate love and compassion at the hardest times. When my flesh wants the glory, let my spirit prevail!
This is big for me. I’m learning lately that I like to feed my flesh (my emotions) when it comes to showing compassion towards people. It’s often difficult to let go of things like pride when emotions are involved. When someone attacks me, I attack back. When someone is cruel, I’m cruel in return. When I feel threatened my walls go up, and my defenses are high. I often refuse to consider anyone elses feelings, but my own. Because of this, nothing is accomplished. It’s difficult to let down those walls, but God is my strength.
It’s easy to give love and compassion to people that you love and have compassion for. God appreciates that, and expects it. However, Jesus doesn’t pick and choose who He loves. He loves everyone with an unconditional and everlasting love. To live everyday as a Christian, we all must strive to live as Jesus did. He is our perfect example.
I was actually tested today, and through Christ, who strengthens me, I passed this test. God was able to receive the glory, and I learned in that moment how important it is to Him that we try to love people the way He does. Is it easy? Not all the time, but when you call upon Jesus, He WILL strengthen you and give you what you need to make it happen!
Let me add, that I felt so much better handling this particular situation with love and compassion, rather than the usual anger I would normally feel. Praise the Lord!
