I love piano. In fact, I have a deep admiration for anyone who can create music with an instrument. Piano is my favorite though. When I was younger I took lessons, and on the side I convinced my teacher to show me how to play the first movement in Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.Unfortunately, I didn’t take it very seriously, and when I got what I wanted from the experience, I gave up.
Years later, I am wishing that I would have stuck with it. It’s not too late though, right? Hey, if a six year old (below) can do it, maybe I can too!

It’s certainly not too late. In fact, you’ll probably pick it up quicker now than if you were 6 or 7. But, regardless of age, it all comes down to how much you practice. But know that it’s definitely not too late.
I say this as someone who teaches piano lessons.
It’s an investment of time to learn, but if you enjoy it, it’s worth it. Plus you can use it to bless others. I play at church, and sometimes I play when it’s just me and God. I’ve played for almost 20 years now (which might make me sound old, but I’m not!), and I enjoy playing more than ever.

it’s never too late to do anything!!
i would have liked to play an instrument and even bought a tabla (indian drum set (but i had to return it because it was mis-listed on ebay and haven’t purchased another one) about half a year ago and was all excited. i’d still like to learn to play it someday, but, going back to my original statement…it’s not too late!!!
i also agree with beppo…it will require a lot of time! but if you feel God pushing you to do so, i’d say go for it!

It’s not too late, my bro. Remember the dream you had of me teaching you the piano in the Spirit?

Bobby, amazing that you are interested in the Indian drums (thabala). =) I’ve had people play that when I was did classical concerts (kacheri’s) at a festival called Thyagaraja Maholstavam (that was when I was in the hindu faith) =)
Blessings!

Wow! I’m excited to see all this encouragement from my friends! Beppo, the main reason I really want to learn is to play to God. I’m a terrible singer, but I think I would love to praise Him with an instrument. He probably wouldn’t mind a break from my shrieking, uhh, I mean singing!

You’re actually not a terrible singer. I love hearing you praise Abba. It’s so beautiful….it brings praise in the ears of the hearers…..I’m not making this up, you know it
Hugs!

Several times the Psalms talk about praising Him with various instruments. Psalm 33:3 says, “Sing to him a new song; play skillfully, and shout for joy.”
I think God created music as something to help us fellowship with Him. If you think about it, music can touch us so deeply, even an instrumental passage. And when it’s anointed, it can do so even more!
So if you feel led to learn to play an instrument, don’t let anything stop you. It’s certainly not too late! And if your primary reason is just to worship God with it, you don’t need years and years of classical training (although it doesn’t hurt). As you know, God cares more about what’s in our heart. But if music helps you express to Him how much you love Him, then use it.

I love the piano too!! My mom started lessons when she was 50 years old. She did very well. It gave her an outlet for her buried talent.
You can do it too. As they say, “It is never too late”!
Be Blessed,
G
